Went to the state for the first time to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I had a pretty good time, my burger and salad were good, nothing that blew me away to be honest. I did appreciate the surprise ice cream for the occasion, though! Very kind by the restaurant. But one thing I was sort of surprised by was the service. It felt like the hosts were a lot more welcoming and friendly than our server. Our hosts smiled, sparked conversation, and made sure we were settled. But our server felt like she was doing the bare minimum, taking our order, checking in, giving us our check, and not much more. There was little to no friendliness or conversation. I've seen more hospitality at restaurants that don't even have servers and hosts. Not tryna leave a 1 star review, but definitely was expecting more from the service and food overall.

We had an Exceptional experience from the start tonight... The greeting at the door from your outstanding hosts was over the top, and extremely inviting and friendly. The speak-easy experience at the Black Antler Book club was unforgettable. Our reservation was on point and the timing was perfect. Sierra is a wonderful ambassador of the establishment (very knowledgeable) and deserves to be promoted. She was a delight and delivered a fun smiley experience that we really enjoyed. Evan the bartender came out to say hello and we complimented him on his concoctions on the winter holiday drink menu. The drinks were outstanding, delicious, and everything we expected from such a unique and local "secret"spot. I was charmed and thought you have a gem of a space. The best part about it was the staff performed in a way to compliment the time we spent there and when that time expired (90 minutes) they were graciously inviting us to leave and come back again for more. Extremely professional and the exit strategy was delivered with grace. Thank you for having us, I'll be back for certain and am so grateful to now know about this incredibly niche scene in Downtown Redlands... Wow!

A group of girlfriend and I stopped for lunch. We found the servers very nice and helpful. We ordered happy hour menu at 11:30 am and had a very good lunch and reasonably priced. The beef tacos were very tasty. The bourbon burger was excellent and cooked perfectly. My wedge salad was good. Overall very nice lunch visit.

Great food! I had the grilled cheese artichoke spinach sandwich. It was delicious. It was grilled with garlic aioli butter. Delicious! Waited almost an hour for seating on a weekend even though they had open tables but they were leaving them in case big parties showed up. But the service was good. The music was a bit loud. But I would return for the food and the ambiance. Great little place.

My daughter and I stopped at The State for a quick lunch after her Dr. appt and the food was very good, I actually had a appetizer for my meal, I ordered the poutain with short ribs it's was so good and my daughter got a burger. I ordered a cocktail that was beautiful but I didn't like the taste.. But that wasn't their fault, more my taste buds. I reordered a drink I knew. The service was so friendly, Brittany and Julianna was our servers, great job ladies. I'd recommend to stop in for a visit to have some great food and service.

Amazing cocktails and the best Date Appetizer. Went by on Saturday with a few friends and Aubrey was out server. She was the sweetest and very attentive, amid it being busy. Love love love!

I didn’t expect the service and atmosphere to be this amazing! Such a perfect spot for a weekend hangout, whether with a friend or on a date.
The food is absolutely delicious, and their bar is well-known for a wide variety of unique cocktails. The bar setup and service are excellent.
The manager was extremely friendly, suggested great dishes, and was very helpful and smiling the entire time.
I can confidently say this is one of the best gastropubs/bars in Redlands when it comes to food, ambiance, and overall experience. 👌

We ventured to The State in Redlands for their taco Tuesday excited for the tacos we had on our last visit not knowing that they change up the tacos each week 🫠.
This time around we had their portobello Mushroom and bell pepper taco, language taco, and the star of the show (in my opinion) the Crispy rice shrimp taco.
We also had some tempura green beans, their house margarita that was too citrusy for me and some bignets that were lovely.
We're definitely looking out for a better grouping of tacos 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼ahi tacos!

Later evening. Stopped by with friends. Quickly seated at a high table wirh stools. Loved the decor. Some of the lighting setup like birdcages. One wall had wallpaper. Different wall had mirrors. Looked over the menu and thought to order two burgers and split them so we could try more. We ordered the shrimp tacos, Drunken Pig burger, Bourbon Barbeque burger, Mac & Cheese, and the Mamma's Meatballs. Both burgers were delicious. Mine came with onion rings- they were battered and oily. The meatballs were huge. Service was good. Ordered a Creme Brulee and it was crispy.
